Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies Concludes Rebuilding Together Improves Home Accessibility, Safety and Health

WASHINGTON, DC – March 12, 2013 – Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit that rehabilitates homes for low-income homeowners, announced today that Harvard University's Joint Center for Housing Studies has published a working paper, which found significant improvements in health and safety, improvements in accessibility, and energy use for those served by the Rebuilding Together affiliate network.

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., (Nov. 20, 2012) – Following a meeting with Governor Cuomo of New York, one of America's largest retailers, Sears, has committed its continued assistance with the East Coast rebuilding effort and the after-effects of Hurricane Sandy with programs that will bring much needed supplies and discounts on appliances to the New York area. Additionally, Sears along with its partner, non-profit Rebuilding Together, has made a commitment to rebuild 100 homes in the storm-affected areas.

"I personally reached out to Sears and asked them to help our community and they eagerly came up with programs that would be of immediate assistance," said Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York. "I am challenging other retailers to please step-up and get involved."
